Painting is like learning
to dance with a partner. First I must learn to handle the medium, become
familiar with the virtues of value and colour, and the strengths of composition
and design - this is comparable to learning dance steps - but I am not yet
dancing. It still remains to learn to respond to the rhythm of the music,
sensitive to the movement of my partner, knowing when to lead and when to follow
- then I am dancing. And when I get in touch with my creative nature, so
that I hear what the colours are telling me and see what needs to be done, then
I have joined in the dance that is creation.
