Pink Pearls, 8.5x10.5 inches,
mixed media on watercolour paper
|
My daughter took the reference photo for this painting
outside a beauty
"saloon" in Ghana.
She was waiting for hair
extensions.
This wonderful expression was her response
when my
daughter's companion suggested
that she was already beautiful! |
| Inspired by another of my daughter's
reference
photos from Ghana.
Replacing her business dress with a folding
garment gave her an exotic air.

Mercy, 10x14 inches,
mixed media |
A photo taken by Peter Wilson
at the HIV/Aids
conference in Kenya was the
inspiration for this painting.
|
| The source for this painting
was a photo from a
German children's mission in Rwanda.
It raises
many questions about the story
of this young mother and her baby.

Woman of Belize,
10x14 inches, mixed media |
Another award winning photo
by Peter Wilson
provided the genius for this one.
A viewer
commented,
"She looks like she needs a hug".
|
| My daughter caught this cutie
on film in Ghana.
(Actually it was "on digital" but that
doesn't sound as cool.)

Savannah, 10x14

Zena, 14x18 inches,
mixed media |
The model is from the West
Indies but her
regal carriage required a dignified setting
which I tried
to provide with the sari
and Mona Lisa background.
Does it work?

| A family photo from the early
1900's was
transformed from black and white.

"Steve" , 16 x 20 oil and acrylic on
canvas
|
My first "traditional" portrait in oil over
acrylic underpainting.
Love for life exudes from this brilliant
musician
and made it a pleasure to paint.
